• Lying in northern hemisphere ASIA is the largest continent of the world both in terms of area and population..
• It includes an area of 44,444,100 sq km which is about 33%of the word's total land area.
• The total population of Asia in 2001 was 3,720 million , which is likely to be 4,714 million in 2025 and 5,262 million in 2050.
• Longitudinal extent is 25 degree east to 170 degree east.
• Latitudinal extent is about 10 degree south to 80 degree north.
• North south extension is 8500 km.
• East west extension is 9600 km.
• Asia is surrounded by ocean from three sides

1. Pacific ocean in the east
2. Arctic ocean in the north
3. Indian ocean in the south.

• The border between EUROPE and Asia is traditionally drawn as an imaginary line passing down the spine of Ural mountains and through Caspian sea  Caucasus mountain and black sea .

• Suez canal and Red sea separate it from AFRICA
